Teacher Training

The Saraswati River Yoga Teacher Training Program is offered to serious Yoga students who are ready to deepen their practice, understanding and experience of Yoga. This program is appropriate for veteran and aspiring students alike. SRY is pleased to announce that it is a Yoga Alliance registered school.

The 2008 curriculum will be comprehensive,
reflecting the philosophy of the Saraswati River Yoga tradition, while qualifying the student for certification with Yoga Alliance.

Yoga is immeasurably more than asana, and our apprenticeship/teacher training program provides the in depth instruction, individual attention and time for the full experience of yoga to bloom and emerge.

Teacher Training Program

18 weekends over 6 months - 200 hours

Our complete curriculum weaves together the physical,
mental, spiritual and philosophical aspects of this
ancient science. It covers, but is not limited to the following:

  • Asana: principles and components of alignment; injury prevention; hands on assists to stabilize and deepen; and sequencing.
  • Therapeutic Yoga & the Use of Props: modifications and key postures for working with injuries; routines and modifications for working with a variety of conditions: physical, emotional and mental.
  • Pranayama: breath as the gateway into deeper realms of being and a tool for meditation and health.
  • Tantra: as yoga is the union, Tantra is the weaving of the science, philosophy and methodology of Yoga. This is the path that yogis who are not renunciates have taken and perfected.
  • Sanskrit: the basics of the alphabet and pronunciation, chanting and asana names.
  • Devi Gita: the Song of the Goddess, which lays the groundwork for the philosophy of Tantra, & explores the esoteric layers of the chakras, nadis & mantras.
  • Yoga Sutras of Patanjali: the textbook for unraveling the contents of mind
