The Saraswati River
Yoga Teacher Training Program is offered to serious Yoga
students who are ready
to deepen their practice, understanding and experience
of Yoga. This
program is appropriate for veteran and aspiring students
alike. SRY is pleased to announce that it is a Yoga Alliance
registered school.
The 2009 curriculum will be comprehensive,
reflecting the philosophy of the Saraswati River Yoga tradition,
while qualifying the student for certification with Yoga
Alliance.
Yoga is immeasurably more than asana, and our apprenticeship/teacher
training program provides the in depth instruction, individual
attention and time for the full experience of yoga to bloom
and emerge.
River Yoga Fall/Winter Teacher Training Intensives
An exciting opportunity to participate in these Yoga Alliance certified trainings.*
100 hrs in 4 weekends (Session 1: Oct 1-3, Oct 15-17, Oct 22-24, Nov 5-7)
or 200 hrs in 8 weekends (Session 1 plus Session2: Nov 19-21, Dec 3-5, Jan 7-9, Jan 14-16).
*Yoga Alliance requires 200 hours of teacher training for certification. It is possible to complete Session 1
and continue to Session 2 as scheduled above, or complete the second training at a later date.
Cost per session: $1600; $1500 if paid in full by 9/17 for Session 1, 11/5 for Session 2.
The River Yoga Teacher Training Intensives are in the Saraswati River Yoga tradition, and focus on asana and assisting, the history of yoga, basic yoga philosophy, chanting & mantras, class sequencing, & more. The curriculum is comprehensive and reflects the philosophy that yoga students unfold most quickly with supervised immersion into both the study & the practice of yoga.

Teacher Training Program
18 weekends over 6 months - 200 hours
Our complete curriculum weaves together the physical,
mental, spiritual and philosophical aspects of this
ancient science. It covers, but is not limited to the following:
- Asana: principles and components
of alignment; injury prevention; hands on assists to
stabilize and deepen; and
sequencing.
- Therapeutic Yoga & the Use
of Props: modifications and key postures for working
with injuries; routines and
modifications for working with a variety of conditions:
physical, emotional and mental.
- Pranayama: breath as the gateway
into deeper realms of being and a tool for meditation
and health.
- Tantra: as yoga is the union,
Tantra is the weaving of the science, philosophy
and methodology of Yoga. This
is the path that yogis who are not renunciates have
taken and perfected.
- Sanskrit: the basics of the
alphabet and pronunciation, chanting and asana names.
- Devi Gita: the Song of the Goddess,
which lays the groundwork for the philosophy of Tantra, & explores
the esoteric layers of the chakras, nadis & mantras.
- Yoga Sutras of Patanjali: the
textbook for unraveling the contents of mind
